Our speaker, Rotarian Joyce Mercado!

Our October 10 lunch meeting at Seascape had 22 attendees in person and three on Zoom.

President Nelson is deftly demonstrating his gifts of oration and organization.

Nice to see Konstantin returning as permanent guest, and welcome to captain Bill Gray down from the northern latitudes to escape the bitter Seattle winters

Our guest was Jack Hunt's friend, Carol Eisman - let’s do what we can to have her join

We were negative for UTI (Under The Influence, our house band), so we played the Welcome song as recorded.

Rich told joke that started with “an old couple's lying in bed” and everyone’s sensitive propriety puckered, but it was very cute. Hopefully we will not receive a complaint from the dentally challenged.

The pickle ball tournament was a great success – we raised over $4000, no injuries.

The only photo shown of the tournament was one of Jack doing what generously or facetiously be described as a lunge but nonetheless, an action shot. Good muscle tone but legs about the same tan as the Pillsbury doughboy

Detective Julie interrogated the group on the dedicated calendar events for the month of October: October 5 was teacher appreciation day; we also had raccoon appreciation day, national octopus day, and squirrel appreciation day.

Your author editorialized that one day is not nearly enough to appreciate teachers, and his small yard is infested with raccoons and squirrels that steal the fruit from his trees and poop on his shed roof. Not sure what there is to appreciate about thieving rodents and they certainly should not be accorded the same reverence as teachers.

It’s time to start gathering the crew for the holiday light display at the fairgrounds so contact President Nelson until he deputize someone else to take charge of that.

Our speaker was Joyce Merchado who gave  a presentation bout simple ways to help combat climate change.  Joyce is an East Bay Rotarian, a physicist, and a climate activist.
